Derivatives Specialist: Portfolio Manager

We are seeking a skilled Derivatives Specialist: Portfolio Manager to join our team at Royal Bank of Canada.

About the Role:

This exciting opportunity will see you working as part of our Alternative Investment Services team, providing Derivative Services for Investor Services Clients who participate in these products. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and analyzing the accounting of all transactions and assisting with the daily, monthly, and annual administration of derivatives and term Loans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day processing of various Derivatives products, including Forwards, Futures, Options, Swaps, and Structured Products.
  • Perform daily reconciliation of Derivatives products and escalate breaks to the appropriate parties as per procedure.
  • Assess Net Asset Value and Market Value calculations for Derivative products being reconciled.
  • Monitor and maintain group inbox for internal and external queries.
  • Verify terms and details of Derivative products, including Forwards, Futures, Options, and Swaps.
  • Generate derivative reports for the Fund Accounting and Custody Reporting groups.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives as required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year Derivatives experience, including experience with year-end processes, audit, transitions, and mergers.
  • Strong understanding of how to calculate MTM for all open positions for Derivative products.
  • Understanding of portfolio performance and ability to decompose P&L.
  • Excellent collaboration and team skills, with a focus on cross-group collaboration.
  • Data-driven reporting.
  • Knowledge of business analysis, project delivery practices, and standards across the project lifecycle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Securities experience.
  • Enrollment in CAIA/CGA/CMA/CFA or other recognized accredited program is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
