Job Title: Camp Leader

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Camp Leader to join our team for the summer of 2024. As a Camp Leader, you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality summer children's camp program to registered participants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver a high-quality summer children's camp program to registered participants.
  • Supervise all program activities, including lunch.
  • Act as a positive role model for program participants and other summer staff.
  • Follow policies and procedures in place relevant to the position.
  • Communicate with parents as required.
  • Modify activities to ensure age appropriateness.
  • Assist in managing participant behaviors.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of camp activities suitable for the age, abilities, and interests of campers.
Requirements:
  • Preference will be given to those enrolled in secondary or post-secondary education in recreation or child/youth education.
  • Experience working with children between the ages of 4 and 12 is an asset.
  • Applicants must be 16 years of age or older to apply.
  • Previous experience as a Camp Leader or in a similar camp environment is an asset.
Certifications and Memberships:
  • Current Certification in Standard First Aid/CPR (WSIB approved).
  • Certified with the High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development.
COVID-19 Vaccination:

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent no longer requires a COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment. Although it is not mandatory to be vaccinated, it is highly encouraged.

Driver's License/Vehicle Requirements:

A valid Province of Ontario driver's license with a reliable motor vehicle is preferred.

Background Check Requirements:

The successful candidate will be required to furnish an original Police Information Search (criminal reference check) (working with vulnerable persons) prior to commencement of employment.
