About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Site Reliability Engineer II to join our Engineering Systems 365 (ES365) team at Microsoft. As a key member of our Infrastructure team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and scalability of our cloud-based services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in onboarding, code/design reviews, and regular meetings with engineering teams to ensure seamless collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Develop and maintain telemetry pipelines and monitoring tools to provide real-time insights into operations metrics.
  • Design, develop, and implement changes to optimize code and improve products, ensuring high-quality and efficient solutions.
  • Respond to incidents during regular on-call rotations, utilizing your expertise to resolve issues promptly and effectively.
  • Author technical documentation for tools and services, ensuring clear and concise communication with stakeholders.
  • Participate in post-incident reviews to drive service improvements and enhance overall reliability.
Requirements
  • 4+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, with 1+ year(s) of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
  • Full-stack troubleshooting skills across network, application, hardware, management fabric, and distributed services layers.
  • Experience documenting complex systems accurately to convey technical ideas across teams.
  • Experience in implementing and managing Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) for production services.
  • Experience with one or more automation tools or frameworks (e.g., Terraform, ARM, Chef, Bicep) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Powershell).
