Job Title: Ojibwe Language Instructor

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Ojibwe Language Instructor to join our team at the York Region District School Board. As an Ojibwe Language Instructor, you will be responsible for providing high-quality language instruction and support to students in our northern schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Ojibwe language instruction to students in a classroom setting
  • Develop and implement language learning materials and resources
  • Support the implementation of the York Region District School Board's First Nation, Métis and Inuit Education Strategy
  • Collaborate with the Regional Ojibwe Language Team and other stakeholders to ensure effective language instruction and support

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience teaching the Ojibwe language and culture
  • Fluency in the Ojibwe language
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and other stakeholders
  • First Nations background and/or experience teaching Indigenous children

Important Note: This is an occasional teacher opportunity to support the York Region District School Board's Ojibwe Language program. The successful candidate will be required to work on a part-time basis, with a variable schedule.
