Job Title: Ojibwe Language Instructor

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Ojibwe Language Instructor to join our team at the York Region District School Board. As an Ojibwe Language Instructor, you will be responsible for providing Ojibwe language instruction and support to students in our northern schools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Ojibwe language instruction to students in our northern schools
  • Support the implementation of the York Region District School Board's First Nation, Métis and Inuit Education Strategy
  • Collaborate with the Regional Ojibwe Language Team and the Ojibwe Language Coordinator to develop and implement language programs
  • Develop and implement culturally relevant and responsive teaching practices
  • Provide professional development and support to teachers and staff on Ojibwe language and culture
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Experience teaching Ojibwe language and culture
  • Fluency in Ojibwe language
  • Experience working with Indigenous students and communities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
