Job Title: Ojibwe Language Instructor

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Ojibwe Language Instructor to join our team at the York Region District School Board. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Ojibwe language instruction and supporting the implementation of the Board's First Nation, Métis and Inuit Education Strategy at northern YRDSB schools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Ojibwe language instruction to students
  • Support the implementation of the Board's First Nation, Métis and Inuit Education Strategy
  • Work collaboratively with the Regional Ojibwe Language Team and school staff
  • Develop and implement culturally responsive teaching practices
  • Assess student learning and progress
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Master's degree in Education or a related field
  • Experience teaching Ojibwe language and culture
  • Fluency in Ojibwe language
  • Strong knowledge of Indigenous pedagogy and educational interconnection
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Selection Process:

The selection process will consist of four stages: application package, Ojibwe language assessment, interview, and reference checks. Only qualified candidates will be contacted to participate in the selection process.
