About This Opportunity

We are seeking an Emergency Medicine physician to join our team at Yarmouth Regional Hospital.

The successful candidate will be responsible for examining patients, ordering diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures, advising patients on healthcare, health promotion, and disease prevention, consulting and referring to other medical practitioners, acting as a patient advocate, and prescribing and administering medications and treatments.

The hospital is a vast healthcare complex serving a population of approximately 60,000 in three counties. The successful candidate may also participate in teaching through the family medicine residency program based in Yarmouth and/or with medical students through Dalhousie University.

Responsibilities
  • Examine patients and order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
  • Advise patients on healthcare, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • Consult and refer to other medical practitioners
  • Act as a patient advocate
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments
Expected Hours

Qualifications
  • College of Family Physicians of Canada Emergency Medicine certification would be considered an asset
  • All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
  • All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Canadian Certified Clinical Research Investigator certification
  • Newborn Resuscitation certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification
  • Emergency department experience an asset
