About This Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine physician to provide locum coverage at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Located in the heart of Yarmouth, this regional hospital serves a population of approximately 60,000 in three counties.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing emergency care to patients in need. The hospital offers a range of services, including alternate level of care, ambulatory care, anesthesiology, and more.

Responsibilities
  • Examine patients, order diagnostic tests, and laboratory procedures
  • Advise patients on healthcare, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • Consult and refer to other medical practitioners
  • Act as a patient advocate
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations, and vaccinations
Qualifications
  • College of Family Physicians of Canada Emergency Medicine certification is an asset
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Incentives

Reimbursement for travel expenses, including kilometrage, per diem, accommodations, and airfare, will be provided as per the Nova Scotia Government rate.

Licensing fees for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS) will be reimbursed.
