Job Summary

The Shift Operations Manager is a critical role within Woodfibre Management Ltd. responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, this individual will lead a team of experienced operators to ensure the facility's operability and maintainability, while adhering to all safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership: Assume overall responsibility for the safe production and execution of activities/tasks in the plant operational area during their shift.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of operators to ensure they have the necessary skills and competencies to perform their duties effectively.
  • Permit to Work (PTW) Processes: Assist in the development and implementation of PTW processes to ensure hazards and risks are mitigated to ALARP expectations.
  • Quality Assurance: Execute quality assurance of plant and equipment during the project phase, supporting the implementation of the agreed maintenance strategy.
  • Commissioning and Start-Up: Support early integration into commissioning and start-up teams in early phases of the project.
  • Interface with Projects and LNG Plant Management: Interface with projects and LNG plant management during start-up.
  • Availability and Reliability: Ensure availability and reliability of plant and equipment during their shift.
  • HSSE: Champion HSE as a member of the LNG operations team, leading HSE shift meetings/safety walks/audits if and when required.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks to ensure the safety of personnel and plant.
  • Emergency Response: Ensure that shift operations emergency response capabilities are 100% met during the shift period.
  • Safe Work Practices: Ensure safe work practices within maintenance for mechanical/electrical & instrument.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of LNG operations experience, with at least 10 years in oil & gas production facilities. APCI LNG technology experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Leadership Experience: Minimum 5 years as a supervisor or superintendent in LNG operations.
  • Commissioning and Start-Up Experience: 3-5 years of gas plant or LNG commissioning and start-up supervisory experience.
  • Training and Competency Assurance: Knowledgeable in training competency assurance management systems.
  • Emergency Response Experience: Experienced in leading a first intervention team during emergency responses.
  • Permit to Work System: Fully versed in managing safe work with permit to work systems.

  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with front-line workers through to management and all hierarchical levels.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks, targets, and changing priorities within tight time frames.
  • Computer Skills: Expertise with a variety of computer programs.
  • Driver's License and Passport: A valid driver's license (with abstract) and passport.
  • Work Authorization: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
