Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Area Manager, Inspections to lead our team of inspectors and ensure the highest level of quality and accuracy in our field inspections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of 4 to 8 technically qualified inspectors, reviewing their reports and ensuring accuracy, correctness, and adherence to established procedures.
  • Mentorship and Training: Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to team members via continuous conversations, evaluating and monitoring team performance to ensure they meet department goals and targets.
  • Employee Relations: Handle employee issues and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Quality Assurance: Provide feedback to field team members as required to improve and maintain inspector reporting quality and efficiency.
  • Project Management: Lead projects aimed at improving department efficiencies and processes, ensuring they stay on schedule.
  • Field Inspections: Conduct field inspections, assessments, and investigations as required.
Qualifications
  • Education: Degree in Engineering with P.Eng designation (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of field experience in industries such as manufacturing, power generation, mining, petroleum, and/or pulp & paper.
  • Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of boilers and pressure vessels.
  • Certifications: National Board Commission is required (or ability to obtain; training will be provided if necessary). Certificate of Competence (COC) is required to perform jurisdictional inspections in Ontario (or the ability to obtain).
  • Soft Skills: Energetic, innovative, and confident with a demonstrated ability to earn the respect of technically qualified peers and subordinates. Strong leadership and coaching skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced capabilities in computer application software, and knowledge of databases and analytics tools. Intermediate to advanced level proficiency with Excel functions (complex formulas, macros, pivot tables) is a strong asset.
