Job Overview

We're seeking an experienced Renewable Energy Project Developer to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for participating in early-stage assessment and development of new utility-scale solar and battery projects, as well as policy and market research. You'll interface with external stakeholders, including service providers, equipment manufacturers, local utility companies, municipal governments, and government agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft and modify basic engineering drawings using CAD tools and other specialized software.
  • Visit prospective sites to assess project constructability and construction risks.
  • Compile and manage maps, site boundaries, and aerial imagery using Google Earth Pro or other GIS tools.
  • Review third-party topographical, geotechnical, hydrological, and zoning studies to assess project viability.
  • Conduct solar resource studies and project performance forecasts using PVSyst and other forecasting tools.
  • Manage and oversee work by third-party technical service providers.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to advance projects through the development process until they are ready-to-build.
  • Support entry into new markets, including policy and market research and project-specific diligence.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, with some industry experience required.
  • Strong command of written and spoken English and Spanish is essential.
  • A basic understanding of solar system design, including the proper usage of basic components and installation methods.
  • Strong technical aptitude, including a basic understanding of mathematical modeling.
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • A valid Canadian driver's license.
