Your Opportunity:
Under the direction of the Clinical Manager, the Clinical Information Resource Specialist I provides consultative service and advice in poison and toxicology via telephone to both the public and healthcare professionals in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories. The specialist may also provide information related to occupational toxicology. The specialist working at PADIS have either a pharmacy or nursing background.
Description:
As a Clinical Information Resource Specialist I with the Poison and Drug Information Service (PADIS) team, you will provide expert consultative services regarding poison and toxicology, and occupational toxicology via telephone to both the public and healthcare professionals. In this position, you will extract, interpret, and summarize the most up-to-date medical resources and latest research when providing information, treatment options, and recommendations about exposure to poisons, chemicals, or toxins, prescription, and over-the-counter medications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consultative services regarding poison and toxicology, and occupational toxicology via telephone to both the public and healthcare professionals.
- Extract, interpret, and summarize the most up-to-date medical resources and latest research when providing information, treatment options, and recommendations.
- Work collaboratively with team members, peers, and both internal and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of a bachelor's degree in Nursing or Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable college. Emergency/ICU or critical care nursing experience and/or drug information background.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Strong clinical assessment skills and working knowledge of pharmacy. Proven ability to build and foster reciprocal relationships and build consensus. Demonstrated independence. Emergency and/or Critical Care experience for registered nurses, preferably within the last 5 years.
