About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager to join our Family Office team at KPMG Canada. As a Senior Manager, you will play a key role in delivering high-touch services to our multi-family office clients, acting as a financial quarterback to our clients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily accounting/financial activities for multiple client entities, including strategic reporting and financial modeling.
  • Support the Family Office team in overall productivity and effectiveness, fostering close working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with key stakeholders, including Partners, senior leaders, business unit leaders, accounts, marketing team, finance, information technology, human resources, and executive team.
  • Provide strategic advice on cash flow management, financial performance, and forecasting, maintaining a consolidated view of clients' overall financial/investment picture.
  • Coordinate accounting, bookkeeping, investment reporting activities, and oversee the finance/accounting/bookkeeping team's activities.
  • Act as the key Liaison for the client, holding regular status update meetings with the Lead Family Office Relationship Manager, Lead Partner, and Family Office Leader.
  • Conduct financial reconciliation, accuracy checks, and maintain a strong understanding of complex financial structures involving investment companies, brokerage, and bank accounts.
  • Prepare customized reporting, including financial modeling and Key Performance Indicator reports, using Family Office technology and other tools.
  • Maintain client document management systems and related technology platforms.
  • Coordinate financial activities with external/internal advisors, including bankers, accountants, and lawyers, such as investment activities, capital calls, and comprehensive analysis of client pro forma information.
  • Offer advice on optimizing cash flow and overall structure, working together with the Wealth Strategy leader.
  • Maintain an understanding of investments and general understanding of fiscal, legal, and accounting implications.
  • Act as project manager for Multi-Family office or Single-family office engagements, coordinating various client-related moving parts and ensuring on-time responses and delivery.
  • Support the Lead Relationship Manager and Family Office Leader with the proposal process.
  • Help maintain client prospect lists, pipeline reports, and other business development/leadership update reports.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting; CPA-CGA is an asset.
  • 7+ years client-facing/relationship management experience with a focus on financial analysis, accounting, and bookkeeping or wealth strategy.
  • Prior audit, tax, financial controller experience is an asset.
  • Prior experience working with a Family Office or professional services organization in a similar role is an asset.
  • Ability to synthesize large quantities of complex data into meaningful insights for clients.
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with senior-level business partners.
  • Excellent business judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and data mining tools such as SQL, Access, etc.
  • Strong demonstrated use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal/facilitation and client relationship management skills.
  • Has an eagerness to learn and help grow the practice.
  • Strong familiarity with KPMG service lines and strong network within professional services is an asset.
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across functions/groups.
  • Effective, versatile, and action-oriented.
