Job Summary:

The Store Operations Manager will play a vital role in assisting the Store Manager in delivering day-to-day store operations, driving sales growth, staffing, merchandising, expense control, and ensuring a safe environment for employees and customers. This position operates within established Company policy, government legislation, and collective agreements.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Store Manager in achieving or exceeding weekly, period, and fiscal year store goals and objectives, including sales, profit, margin targets, shrink targets, and labour targets.
  2. Work with the Store Manager to implement various merchandising programs, procedures, and processes designed to maximize operational efficiencies and profitability.
  3. Collaborate with Department Managers to establish productivity goals and operational standards, ensuring merchandise is ordered and displayed according to company planograms.
  4. Ensure the store is maintained in accordance with all health and safety regulations as established by the company and regulatory authorities.
  5. Provide leadership by hiring, training, directing, and developing a staff that is customer-focused, ensuring all actions and events portray a customer-friendly shopping environment.
  6. Actively utilize new technology initiatives to ensure own and staff proficiency.
  7. Maintain a pulse on competitive activity in the local market area and provide recommendations to Operations to overcome competitive disadvantages.
  8. Participate in store-based initiatives designed to enhance community involvement and enhance the store's image as a supporter of community activities.
  9. Build strong working relationships with vendors and union business representatives.

Requirements:

  • College or University education
  • 3-5 years progressive management experience in retail (grocery preferred)
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Good business acumen
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong time management skills

Estimated Salary:

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
