Tool and Die Maker

We are seeking a skilled Tool and Die Maker to join our team at Magna Exteriors. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for analyzing specifications, laying out metal stock, and setting up and operating machine tools. Your expertise will be essential in fitting and assembling parts to fabricate and repair metal working dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools.
You will also be responsible for modifying dies to conform to engineering changes, providing assistance and guidance to apprentices, and maintaining a clean and organized toolroom. Additionally, you will be expected to inspect and troubleshoot new tools and progressive dies, operate toolroom equipment effectively and safely, and assist in the tooling process as assigned.
As a Tool and Die Maker, you will work closely with our team to ensure that all production-related issues are addressed and that outstanding work is prioritized. You will also be responsible for maintaining good communication with your supervisor and team leaders, and for actively participating in continuous improvements, dimensional quality concerns, and customer issues.
Responsibilities- Support shift with completing open action items.
- Production coverage / Change Over's / Manufacturing Spares / Preventative Maintenance / C.I.'s/ Predictive Maintenance
- Carry out daily pre-start Crane and Toolroom inspection sheet
- Maintain a clean and organized Toolroom / 5S
- Ensure clear communication of production related issues are passed onto all shifts and outstanding work is prioritized to be continued.
- Maintain good communication with Supervisor and Team Leaders by way of verbal discussions and Email
- Inspects and troubleshoots new tools and progressive dies
- Operates Toolroom equipment effectively and safely
- Assists in the tooling process as assigned while meeting the established customer requirements
- Modify, repair and trouble shoot progressive dies while working to very close tolerances from blueprints, sketches and samples
- Maintains documentation and preventive maintenance requirement of progressive dies
- Manages daily priorities for attainment of customer satisfaction, while also meeting production schedule commitments to achieve business objectives
- Performs assigned tasks within given timeframes and monitors/reports progress to the Tool and Die Team Leader or designate
- Actively participates in continuous improvements, dimensional quality concerns and customer issues and supports department goals and objectives
- Contributes to a positive work environment by demonstrating and sharing functional/technical knowledge
- Performs all job functions in alignment with IATF 16949 quality management standards and ISO 14001
- Actively participates in continuous improvement
- Maintain 5S standards in working environment
- Attend training based on Mytox's internal training matrix
- Performs all job functions in a safe, healthful and environmentally conscious manner, abiding by all health, safety and environment rules and regulations as outlined in the company handbook
- Performs other duties as assigned or any reasonable request by management.
- Five years related experience and / or training in an automotive production environment
- Mould Maker Certificate of qualification (License)
- Valid forklift license
- Knowledge of CNC equipment and programming
- Basic understanding of the computer
- Ability to program operate sink / wire EDM
- Familiar with CAD Modeling (Mastercam, SolidWorks, ESPRIT. Inventor)
- TIG welding experience
- Automotive manufacturing experience
