Tool and Die Maker

We are seeking a skilled Tool and Die Maker to join our team at Magna Exteriors. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for analyzing specifications, laying out metal stock, and setting up and operating machine tools. You will also be responsible for fitting and assembling parts to fabricate and repair metal working dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting shift with completing open action items
- Production coverage, change overs, manufacturing spares, preventative maintenance, C.I.'s, and predictive maintenance
- Carrying out daily pre-start crane and toolroom inspection sheet
- Maintaining a clean and organized toolroom
- Ensuring clear communication of production-related issues are passed onto all shifts and outstanding work is prioritized to be continued
- Maintaining good communication with supervisor and team leaders by way of verbal discussions and email
- Inspecting and troubleshooting new tools and progressive dies
- Operating toolroom equipment effectively and safely
- Assisting in the tooling process as assigned while meeting established customer requirements
- Modifying, repairing, and troubleshooting progressive dies while working to very close tolerances from blueprints, sketches, and samples
- Maintaining documentation and preventative maintenance requirements of progressive dies
- Managing daily priorities for attainment of customer satisfaction, while also meeting production schedule commitments to achieve business objectives
- Performing assigned tasks within given timeframes and monitoring/reports progress to the Tool and Die Team Leader or designate
- Actively participating in continuous improvements, dimensional quality concerns, and customer issues and supports department goals and objectives
- Contributing to a positive work environment by demonstrating and sharing functional/technical knowledge
- Performing all job functions in alignment with IATF 16949 quality management standards and ISO 14001
- Actively participating in continuous improvement
- Maintaining 5S standards in working environment
- Attending training based on Mytox's internal training matrix
- Performing all job functions in a safe, healthful, and environmentally conscious manner, abiding by all health, safety, and environment rules and regulations as outlined in the company handbook
- Performing other duties as assigned or any reasonable request by management
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Five years related experience and/or training in an automotive production environment
- Mould Maker Certificate of qualification (License)
- Valid forklift license
- Knowledge of CNC equipment and programming
- Basic understanding of the computer
- Ability to program and operate sink/wire EDM
- Familiar with CAD Modeling (Mastercam, SolidWorks, ESPRIT, Inventor)
- TIG welding experience
- Automotive manufacturing experience
