The Role

The Product Quality Optimization Specialist will be responsible for coordinating new product quality and optimizing quality processes for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.

This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including New Product Development, Production, and Engineering, to establish quality standards and specifications for new products.

The successful candidate will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes of quality issues and implement effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret engineering drawings and collaborate with the New Product Development team to establish quality standards and specifications for new products.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing inspections of new product samples to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain quality control documentation, including inspection plans, testing protocols, and quality checklists for new products.
  • Evaluate existing injection molding processes to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Work with production and engineering teams to implement process changes that enhance product quality, reduce cycle time, and minimize waste.
  • Analyze test results and provide feedback to production and NPD teams.
  • Identify, document, and investigate non-conforming products and materials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A completion of post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in a Quality, Manufacturing, or Engineering-related field.
  • Proven experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • ASQ certification is a strong asset.
  • Experience in new product development and process optimization is an asset.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Proficient in using quality inspection tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with quality management systems (QMS), ISO standards, and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes of quality issues and implement effective solutions.

Location

This position is located in East York, ON, Canada.

You will spend almost 100% of your time in the plant environment, requiring varying degrees of moderate physical labour.

The majority of the work involves considerable standing and walking, as well as some lifting, pulling, and pushing light objects.
