Job Title: Injection Molding Optimization Specialist

Salary Range: $35 - 39/hour

Job Summary:

The focus of this role is to analyze and optimize our plastic injection molding processes while ensuring optimal production efficiency, quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with company safety standards. The ideal candidate will have experience working with plastic injection and/or blow molding processes and be proficient in injection molding process parameters, machinery, and mold design.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Evaluate current cycle times of injection molding machines and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce cycle times without compromising product quality, including optimizing parameters such as cooling time, injection speed, and clamping force.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to mold performance, machinery, and materials that impact overall efficiency.
  • Monitor and record processing data, including cycle time, machine utilization, and downtime, to analyze trends and drive improvements.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, quality, mold shop, and production teams to implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of process changes, optimization efforts, and results to support quality assurance and compliance standards.
  • Provide training and guidance to setup and process technicians on best practices for process optimization and machine operation.
  • Work closely with the quality control team to ensure that optimized processes maintain the highest product quality standards.
  • Ensure that all optimization activities comply with company safety standards and industry regulations.
  • Active participation required in 5S initiatives, continuous improvements, and mini projects.
  • Perform a variety of other tasks as assigned.


Requirements:


  • Completion of post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in a Quality, Manufacturing or Engineering related field.
  • Proven experience working with plastic injection and/or blow molding processes.
  • Proficiency in injection molding process parameters, machinery, and mold design.
  • Experience with process optimization tools and techniques, such as DOE (Design of Experiments) and statistical analysis.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD software and mold flow simulation tools is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Working Conditions:

This role requires spending almost 100% of time in the plant environment, involving varying degrees of moderate physical labor, standing, walking, lifting, pulling, and pushing light objects, and exposure to heat, dust, and noise levels.
