Key Responsibilities
  1. Market and Customer Insight
  • Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to uncover trends, customer pain points, and growth opportunities.
  • Engage directly with enterprise and government clients to gather insights, validate product concepts, and refine offerings.
Product Strategic Leadership
  • Craft and execute a bold product vision and strategy that aligns with Telesat's mission and growth objectives.
  • Develop and prioritize a flexible product roadmap that responds to emerging opportunities, market needs, and technological advancements.
Product Development
  • Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from initial concept through market launch and overall profitability, ensuring agility and rapid iteration.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, design, and other key teams to build market-relevant and cutting-edge satellite telecom products and solutions.
Product Evangelist and Training
  • Evangelize offerings to prospects.
  • Support training of sales and sales engineers on offerings.
  • Support development of customer solutions for strategic customer needs.
Pricing Management
  • Oversee standard rate card for the product catalog.
  • Adapt per market changes.
Team Building and Leadership
  • Assemble and lead a high-energy, agile product management team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Mentor team members and drive performance to achieve ambitious product goals.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to align product initiatives with strategic business goals.
  • Communicate product plans, progress, and performance metrics to stakeholders.
Product Financial Management
  • Develop and manage the product budget, making strategic decisions to optimize resource allocation and drive financial sustainability.
  • Track sales and profitability of the products and service offerings.
  • Monitor product performance and key metrics, using data-driven insights to enhance profitability and value.
Regulatory and Compliance
  • Ensure product offerings meet regulatory requirements and industry standards, particularly those relevant to satellite communications and government contracts.
Innovation and Agility
  • Stay on the cutting edge of technology and industry trends, driving continuous innovation and improvement.
  • Adapt quickly to changing market conditions and evolving customer needs, embracing a startup mindset.
Requirements
  1. Experience
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in product management role in the telecom sector serving enterprise and government markets; satcom knowledge desirable.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver innovative product solutions in a fast-paced, growth company setting.
  • Deep understanding of communications technology and its application to enterprise and government markets, especially in satcom context.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach.
  • Experience in market analysis, customer engagement, and agile product development.
  • Proficiency in budgeting and financial performance analysis.
  • Ability to prioritize must-have features from nice-to-haves.
  • Fluent in English.

Additional Requirements

  • Authorized to work in Canada.
  • Occasional travel to Telesat offices, conferences, and trade shows.
