Classification and Compensation Specialist

The City of Fort Saskatchewan is seeking a highly skilled Classification and Compensation Specialist to join our People Services Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on classification, compensation, and recruitment processes for all City positions.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct job analyses, including interviewing employees and supervisors, to determine job class specifications and make recommendations for classification and compensation.
- Support managers and supervisors in evaluating and developing job descriptions, ensuring alignment with City policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of job descriptions, job classifications, and job evaluation results.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations on matters related to job design, compensation, and organizational change.
- Conduct research and analysis of compensation market surveys, job comparison research, and compensation data trends to inform the City's compensation strategy.
- Support collective bargaining by providing research, analysis, and recommendations on classification and compensation-related data.
- Oversee the hiring process, update practices and procedures, and provide supervision to the Recruitment Team.
The successful candidate will have a post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources Management, with a minimum of five years' related experience working in Human Resources. A professional designation of CPHR (Chartered Professional in Human Resources) or RPR (Registered Professional Recruiter) is desired. Experience in a Municipal setting is considered an asset. Independent decision-making experience, excellent analytical and organizational skills, and strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
