Job Summary

The City of Fort Saskatchewan is seeking a highly skilled Classification and Compensation Specialist to join our People Services Team. As a key member of our team, you will provide subject matter expertise and advice on classification, compensation, and recruitment processes for all City positions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct job analyses, including interviewing employees and supervisors, and analyze job class specifications to ensure accurate classification and compensation.
  • Support managers and supervisors in evaluating and developing job descriptions, and maintain up-to-date records of job descriptions, job classifications, and job evaluation results.
  • Provide advice and recommendations on restructuring and reorganization, job design, compensation, and organizational change.
  • Conduct research and analysis of compensation market surveys, job comparison research, and provide information to the Director for updates to the compensation strategy.
  • Support collective bargaining by providing research, analysis, recommendations, and advice based on classification and compensation-related data.
  • Oversee the hiring process, update practices and procedures, and provide supervision to the Recruitment Team.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources Management, with a minimum of five years' related experience working in Human Resources. A professional designation of CPHR (Chartered Professional in Human Resources) or RPR (Registered Professional Recruiter) is desired. Experience in a Municipal setting is considered an asset.

The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to maintain current knowledge of classification and compensation methodologies and principles, Human Resources best practices, Human Rights Legislation, and Employment Standards Legislation.
