We are seeking a skilled Purchasing Clerk to join our Supply Chain team at our Head Office in Dartmouth, NS. The successful candidate will be responsible for procuring products to support HGC sales and service to customers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of procurement processes and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. They will be responsible for authorizing purchase orders, verifying inventory levels, and coordinating with suppliers to meet tight deadlines.

The Principle Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Purchasing products based on demand to support customer orders and stock requirements
  • Reviewing purchasing requisitions for accuracy and verifying current inventory levels
  • Identifying product requirements and coordinating with suppliers to meet tight deadlines
  • Sourcing and obtaining price quotes from suppliers and preparing purchase orders
  • Supporting Purchasing Agents and Category Buyers by entering order confirmations and data analysis
  • Purchasing the highest quality products at the lowest possible price and in the correct amounts
  • Participating in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials
  • Working with the finance department to process payments and invoices promptly

The Required Knowledge and Training for this role include:

  • High school graduate plus college diploma or related certificate preferred
  • Documentation - proficient in the use of spreadsheet programs
  • Identifies and presents information that will motivate, persuade, engage, or influence others
  • Demonstrates commitment to process improvement
  • Must be fluent in English written and verbal
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
