Personal Care Specialist

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Personal Care Specialist to provide community support services in the homes of clients of all ages and stages of life. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work collaboratively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care and support.
About the Role
This role involves providing personal care and support to clients in a community setting, working under the supervision of a regulated health professional. You will be responsible for assisting with daily living activities, administering medication (if certified), and documenting client information as required. You may also perform restricted activities under specific circumstances, as authorized by your supervisor.
Responsibilities
* Provide personal care and support to clients in their homes, including assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
* Administer medication (if certified) and document client information as required
* Collaborate with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
* Work under the supervision of a regulated health professional to ensure high-quality care and support
* Maintain accurate records of client interactions and care provided
* Participate in relevant in-service education and training to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements
* Completion of a Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire (or equivalent experience)
* Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory
* Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS HCP) certification
* Strong communication and assessment skills
* Ability to apply health and safety principles in delivering care to clients in the community
* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (as required)
Salary Information
We offer a competitive salary range of $62,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development.
Work Environment
You will work independently in clients' homes, which could include congregate settings, single family dwellings, condos, and/or walk-up apartments. Therefore, you must be able to work in different settings and environments (home environments and weather conditions), as well as lift and carry medical bags, which weigh approximately 25-30 lbs.
