Job Title: Billing Compliance Specialist

Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP is a leading business law firm with a strong presence in Canada and the United States. We are seeking a highly skilled Billing Compliance Specialist to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Billing Compliance Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of client billing. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Determine appropriate rates for client and matter billing to ensure consistency with engagement letters and agreements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely setup and maintenance of client/matter rates and budgets in accounting systems and ebilling platforms.
  • Liaise with clients on rate submissions through ebilling platforms and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Implement client rate renewals and apply approved changes to timekeeper rates.
  • Liaise with Pricing and Legal Project Management teams to obtain new rates and client/matter agreements.
  • Expert in rates management structures in Aderant that support the billing process.
  • Respond to routine questions and provide information on rates and special fee arrangements.
  • Maintain and update training documentation and recordings on billing rate and special fee arrangements.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with peers, management, external vendors, and contacts at all levels of the organization.
Requirements:
  • College diploma or University Degree in a business discipline.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience in finance, billing, or project management within the legal or professional services industry.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, efficient, and organized.
  • Ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Proficient in MS Office product suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Highly analytical problem solver with mastery of advanced data functions.
  • Knowledge of SQL is an asset.
  • Experience with ebilling platforms and accounting systems, such as Aderant or Elite.
