About the Role

The primary responsibility of this position is to work closely with engineers and senior technical staff to develop designs and drawings for fire suppression systems in the buildings engineering industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager and technical staff to provide clients with completed projects in a timely manner.
  • Work with the project team to resolve issues during construction.
  • Maintain open lines of communication and coordinate work with the Project Manager, staff, and project team members.
  • Stay up-to-date with applicable building codes and standards.
  • Operate with minimal oversight on typical design problems; seek advice and assistance from senior staff for deeper technical problems.
Required Skills
  • A passion for design and self-improvement through learning.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including respectful and receptive communication with others.
  • Strong communication skills, including credibility, attentiveness, reliability, responsiveness, and empathy.
  • Ability to identify and understand client expectations, then meet or exceed them.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 suite.
  • Highly skilled in the use of AutoCAD (2D), MS Excel, and other routine design tools.
  • Ability to identify risks to clients or the company and identify technical innovative approaches to complex problems.
  • Ability to accurately apply common codes and standards to routine design problems.
Qualifications

Graduation from a technical university or college diploma program, with a focus on Mechanical Engineering and/or related fields.

2-8 years of industry experience directly related to the design of fire suppression and life safety systems.

Certificate in Fire Suppression Design from an accredited institution is preferred but not required.
