Executive Chef for a Busy Sushi Restaurant

Sushi Wood is seeking an experienced Executive Chef to join our team. This is a permanent, full-time position offering 30-40 hours of work per week.
About the RoleWe are looking for a skilled and dedicated chef to oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality dishes are prepared and served to our customers. As Executive Chef, you will be responsible for supervising kitchen staff, managing inventory, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and work areas.
This role also involves recruiting and hiring new staff members, as well as training existing employees on food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes, adhering to Sushi Wood's quality standards
- Inspect kitchens and food service areas to ensure they meet health and safety regulations
- Develop and implement menus, taking into account customer preferences and seasonal ingredient availability
- Train and mentor kitchen staff, promoting teamwork and effective communication
- Maintain accurate records of food, supplies, and equipment inventory
- Clean and maintain kitchen and work areas, adhering to health and safety protocols
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar kitchen role
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of kitchen safety procedures and food handling regulations
