The Opportunity:

The Risk Manager is a key member of the Risk Management team, reporting to the Director of Risk Management. As part of this team, you will support the Company's operating units in identifying and mitigating financial risks through the use of derivative contracts and corporate insurance programs. The Risk Management team is part of the broader Treasury team, managed by the Vice President, Treasury, and works closely with this team on shared initiatives.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Lead a team of Risk Management professionals to develop and implement risk management strategies.
  • Perform market analysis on foreign exchange, interest rate, and commodity markets to inform key investment and capital market decisions.
  • Work with operating units to monitor the Company's risk exposures and assist in the implementation of new hedging strategies.
  • Oversee the derivative trading lifecycle, including trade execution, position and valuation reporting, confirmation, settlement, reconciliation, and accounting.
  • Lead reporting on risk management activities, including regular updates to Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
  • Support the month-end and quarter-end closing processes and subsequent analysis.
  • Support the preparation of the annual insurance renewal and other corporate insurance programs.
  • Support the management and reporting of the investment portfolio for the Maple Leaf Centre for Action on Food Security.
  • Assist the risk management team with ad-hoc requests.

  • You have experience managing or coaching other professionals.
  • You have a demonstrated interest in financial markets and a desire to learn about corporate insurance programs.

What You Will Bring:

  • A degree in finance, business, accounting, or another quantitatively based field. A Master's degree is an asset.
  • 4+ years of experience working in Treasury, Risk Analysis, with derivatives, or in another quantitative and detail-oriented field.
  • A strong understanding of drivers and trends in foreign exchange, commodity, and interest rate markets.
  • 2+ years of experience transacting in foreign exchange, commodity, and interest rate derivatives.
  • A professional designation, such as CPA, CFA, or FRM, or significant progress towards one.
  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills, with VBA experience an asset.
  • Experience using Bloomberg, treasury management systems, and SAP.
  • Strong mathematical skills and an ability to grasp accounting concepts.
  • Knowledge of corporate insurance programs is an asset.
