Job Title: Community Safety Services Manager

Join the City of Kelowna as a Community Safety Services Manager and lead a dynamic team in developing and implementing crime reduction and prevention strategies. This role requires a strong background in policing, community development, and leadership, with a focus on convening stakeholders and designing comprehensive strategies to address community safety issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and oversight in the development and delivery of crime prevention and reduction strategies, programs, and projects.
  • Convene and engage stakeholders, including governmental and non-governmental organizations, to design and deliver comprehensive strategies that have a measurable impact.
  • Conduct research and analysis to understand local community safety issues and identify evidence-based responses.
  • Ensure programs and services are congruent with City and RCMP priorities while meeting community needs.
  • Represent the City on boards and committees, providing subject matter expertise and a direct liaison to the Community Safety Director.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in a policing environment, with 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field, such as criminal justice, sociology, or business management.
  • Practical knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal statutes and strategies related to policing and community safety.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with experience in research, analysis, and problem-solving.
