We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer to join our team at Volkswagen Group Canada.


The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design and development of complex industrial projects, ensuring that all technical designs meet both functional requirements and regulatory standards.


As a Senior Design Engineer, you will work on large-scale industrial facilities, including manufacturing plants, production lines, and infrastructure systems, playing a key role in translating project concepts into detailed engineering designs.


You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including construction, procurement, and operations, to ensure that design objectives are aligned with project timelines, cost constraints, and quality expectations.


  • Lead the design and development of engineering plans for large-scale industrial projects.
  • Develop and review detailed design documents, blueprints, schematics, and CAD drawings.
  • Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, procurement, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide technical expertise and solutions for complex engineering challenges.
  • Conduct design reviews and feasibility assessments.
  • Lead design coordination meetings and supervise the work of junior design engineers.
  • Coordinate with external consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Oversee the implementation of design modifications and ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain project documentation and support the project team during the construction phase.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in design engineering, with a strong focus on large industrial projects.
  • Experience working on large-scale projects, including manufacturing plants, production lines, and infrastructure systems.
  • Ability to work safely on an active construction site in accordance with the Health & Safety Plan.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or other relevant tools for industrial engineering.
