About the Opportunity:

Sovereign Insurance, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Co-operators, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Claims Examiner to join our Claims Management Team. As a Claims Examiner, you will play a critical role in overseeing a diverse portfolio of commercial liability and specialty lines claims, including professional liability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and settle claims within authority level, providing guidance and direction to adjusters, appraisers, and solicitors to ensure timely resolution of claims.
  • Review and interpret insurance policy wordings and loss information to ensure accurate and fair claims handling.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of insurance coverage, settlement methods, procedures, investigation methods, and creative negotiation skills to effectively manage claims.
  • Report on reserve loss and expenses within established guidelines.
  • Liaise with the underwriting team to ensure accurate risk assessment and submission of risk information.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of claims experience with a focus on complex multi-line claims.
  • Previous experience handling commercial property, liability, equipment breakdown, and professional liability claims.
  • Previous experience with Guidewire in a paperless claims environment is an asset.
  • CIP, FCIP, or working towards designation is required.

  • Flexibility to attend mediations, settlement conferences, and court proceedings as required.
