**About Our Opportunity**:
As a Financial Services Officer 2, you provide Managers at the Department of Health and Wellness with sound financial advice so they can make informed decisions on the proper allocation of Departmental resources.
You prepare transactional payments for long-term care facilities, along with monitoring and tracking these payments. You are accountable for reconciling claims received from external third-party organizations. Other financial responsibilities include the review and evaluation of information for annual budget and monthly forecast submissions.
As the Financial Services Officer 2, you will report to the Manager of Finance.
**Primary Accountabilities**:
**Some of your key responsibilities will include**:
- Performing, monitoring and analyzing ongoing financial reports submitted to the department by external service providers;
- Administering and ensuring appropriate fund disbursements to external service providers and service recipients;
- Analyzing and maintaining budget expenditures and revenues, monthly forecasts, annual estimates, making recommendations based on analysis;
- Performing budget and year-end accounting support functions for the financial services branch and other related duties.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
This may be the right opportunity for you if you have high school completion along with 3 years of post-secondary professional accounting training and 5 years of related experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.
You possess exceptional communication and relationship building skills, using diplomacy to foster working relations with service providers, boards, government officials and the public. You exercise judgement in making recommendations in conformity with laws, regulations, policies and generally accepted accounting/auditing principles. You also have strong time management skills to manage multiple assignments with competing priorities.
While not required, it is considered an asset if you have experience working within the health care sector.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

**Working Conditions**:
- Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.
- May be required to work overtime on occasion.
- Typically located in comfortable office environment.
- Much of the time is spent in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about.
- Regularly reads and interprets multiple sources of information, regular requirement to type, read and work on a computer.
- May experience pressure with deadlines and need for accuracy.
