Job Title: OTR Tire Technician

Join Kal Tire, a leading provider of mining tire service and supply, as an OTR Tire Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for performing tire service on customer equipment, assisting mine maintenance staff, and conducting maintenance on tools and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform tire service on customer equipment, adhering to Kal Tire's standards.
  • Assist mine maintenance staff as required, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Conduct regular maintenance on tools and equipment, promoting efficiency and safety.
  • Maintain accurate tire inspection and maintenance records.
  • Respond to after-hours call-outs, demonstrating a commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, driving excellence in everything we do.
Operational / Technical:
  • Dismount and mount tires for various vehicles, adhering to load requirements.
  • Ensure safe and efficient tire mounting, prioritizing customer satisfaction.
  • Perform equipment checks and calibrations, maintaining optimal performance.
  • Install and remove wheels from diverse vehicles, showcasing adaptability.
  • Mount and demount different tire and rim assemblies, demonstrating expertise.
  • Balance light vehicle tire and rim assemblies, ensuring precision.
  • Perform repairs to tires and tubes, resolving issues efficiently.
  • Conduct inspections and determine the suitability of wheel components for continued service.
  • Operate heavy-duty tire servicing equipment and tools, showcasing technical proficiency.
  • Complete required reporting and logging of data, maintaining accurate records.
  • Ensure a clean and safe work environment, adhering to Kal Tire's standards.
  • Assist in managing inventory for operational requirements, promoting efficiency.
Health, Safety & Environment:
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and requirements, prioritizing employee well-being.
  • Maintain hygiene standards in the facility, promoting a healthy work environment.
  • Report hazards, unsafe work conditions, and behaviors to supervisors, eliminating risks.
  • Report incidents and injuries according to procedures, ensuring transparency.
  • Collaborate with the site safety representative to resolve safety issues, promoting a culture of safety.
  • Use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment at all times, prioritizing safety.
  • Perform vehicle pre-start checks according to procedures, ensuring readiness.
  • Participate in regular meetings and inspections, promoting safety and documenting findings.
  • Read and confirm incident notices and other safety information, staying informed.
  • Comply with site emergency evacuation procedures, prioritizing employee safety.
Requirements:
  • At least two years of related experience, with direct experience as a tire fitter preferred.
  • OTR service training and certifications desired, with basic tire fitting skills – Tire Fitter Levels 1 & 2 preferred.
  • Experience operating and maintaining tire manipulators, forklifts, and service trucks.
  • Experience working in an environment where safety procedures are a key part of daily operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Able to physically perform the duties of an OTR Tire Technician safely.
  • Able to obtain and maintain all applicable licenses, certificates as required to perform the duties as required to work at mine sites.
  • Able to perform mechanically related tasks.
  • Able to follow all safety procedures and work in a safe manner.
  • Able to work in a results-oriented, fast-paced environment as part of a team.
  • Must be a self-starter and willing to take the initiative, solve problems, be able and willing to work without direct supervision, and be willing to attend appropriate training sessions.
  • Understand tire failure causes and analysis.
  • Good communication skills and ability to express themselves well both verbally and in writing.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
Education:
  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
  • Additional certification and training preferred.
Special Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license and ability to comply with relevant insurance policies.
