About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Permitting Specialist to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As a key member of our Environmental Permitting and Management team, you will play a critical role in supporting a wide variety of energy and infrastructure environmental assessment and planning projects, particularly in the nuclear sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, manage, and deliver all aspects related to environmental permitting activities, particularly for the energy sector (ideally nuclear), working as part of a wider delivery team.
  • Coordinate and guide efforts to obtain and comply with environmental approvals/permits for projects from regulatory agencies (municipal, provincial, and federal).
  • Act as a project manager/coordinator responsible for the development and management of scope, budget, schedule, and effective quality oversight.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of consultation and engagement programs, including with First Nations and Indigenous communities.
  • Independently coordinate and manage external subcontractors.
  • Effectively delegate tasks and activities to more junior staff, providing technical and supervisory guidance on assigned tasks.
  • Assist with and, as necessary, take a lead role in the development of proposals, qualification documents, and other business development-related activities.
  • Interact with clients and regulatory agencies and ministries to ensure that projects are successfully delivered within timelines.
  • Support the growth of environmental planning/environmental assessment market share in strategic markets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, or related degree.
  • 8-10 years of related experience in managing/coordinating environmental assessments and securing construction permits/approvals, including for energy projects, preferably in the nuclear sector.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrable experience working with nuclear regulators is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with environmental project management fundamentals, including cost control, scope management, and scheduling.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage multiple assignments at one time.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced engineering or environmental consulting environment.
  • Full or Provisional membership in a professional body is an asset (e.g., RPP, PMP, EP).
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
