Job Title: Senior Estimator

The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Estimating and will be responsible for leading the estimating team in preparing accurate and comprehensive estimates for construction projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing detailed estimates of probable costs, including materials, labor, and equipment, based on contract bids, quotations, and specifications.
  • Completing thorough quantity take-offs for all aspects of each project, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Providing expert advice on tendering procedures, analyzing tenders, and recommending award decisions.
  • Identifying and pursuing new bid and proposal opportunities to drive business growth.
  • Conducting financial assessments of contract variations and ensuring accurate cost management.
  • Maintaining a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors, and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping, and maintaining a high level of quality in all estimating activities.
  • Providing cost-value procurement of materials, equipment, and labor, and conducting market value assessments.
  • Liaising with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Leading the estimating team during project closings and ensuring a smooth transition of projects.

Required Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Minimum degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; a Master's degree is an asset.
  • At least 7 years of experience in large Residential and ICI construction projects in the Canadian market.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, to a high standard.
  • Strong ability to use on-screen takeoff and Bluebeam software, with a high level of proficiency.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD architecture and Revit is a benefit, but not required.
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and construction practices, and apply this knowledge efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capacity to understand agreements and RFPs, and apply this knowledge in a practical context.
