About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Victim Services Coordinator to join our team at the Government of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our Provincial Victim Services Program, you will play a vital role in providing administrative support to our team and ensuring the smooth delivery of services to victims of crime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Provincial Victim Services Program, including answering phone calls, preparing correspondence, and managing databases.
  • Assist with front desk coverage, direct contact with the public, victims of crime, and justice partners to help navigate to the appropriate service.
  • Prepare statistics on a spreadsheet, code block invoices for signature and payment for regional offices, and book new and recurring meetings.
  • Maintain an electronic filing system, order office supplies, and prepare quotations for off-site training events.
  • Take minutes for meetings, maintain the regional office general email account, and support administrative assistants in regional offices and Head Office.
Requirements
  • One year of secretarial or commercial course supplemented by three years of related secretarial experience, including experience dealing with traumatic events.
  • Proficiency in typing, word processing, and other standard computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet use.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and manage electronic filing systems.
  • Strong organizational skills, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise discretion and confidentiality, and demonstrate tact and sound judgment.
