Sales Representative

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Outside Sales Representative to join our team at Beacon Building Products Canada. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for selling residential and commercial roofing materials to contractor customers and building new relationships with potential industry customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet or exceed sales and margin targets for the assigned territory.
- Build strong relationships with customers through face-to-face meetings and site visits.
- Develop new business opportunities through prospecting calls and execute a comprehensive sales plan to service and expand our business with existing and new customers.
- Coordinate closely with our inside sales support team and vendors to promote products and services to customers.
- Organize sales activities to maximize face-to-face sales time with customers.
- Observe and benchmark other sales reps to utilize skills needed in your sales territory.
- Demonstrate strong sales acumen and professionalism to positively impact all prospects and customers.
- Maintain Beacon's social, ethical, and organizational standards.
- Drive sales growth through consistent daily effort.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated record year-over-year sales growth.
- Strong ability to develop new business opportunities while maintaining existing sales.
- Excellent customer service skills and attitude.
- DEC or AEC in sales administration (an asset).
- Experience in residential or commercial sales, an asset, but not required.
- Experience in the construction materials distribution industry (an asset).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Internet, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to learn and use Salesforce.
- Knowledge of Mincron (an asset) or ability to learn our inventory management system.
- Ability to learn product lines.
- Ability to create a good first impression, command attention, and respect, and display an air of confidence.
- Be a self-starter able to take action to achieve goals.
- Take a sincere interest in what the client or prospect really needs to improve their business.
- Ability to adapt to competitive sales situations with little supervision and strong negotiation skills.
- Sales driven (interested, enthusiastic, and dedicated to the sales function).
- Consistently make the kind of effort necessary to achieve sales goals.
- Maintain a good driving record and hold a valid driver's license.
- Willingness to develop new and existing skills through educational programs with both company-provided and supplier-supported training.
