Business Operations Manager

The Business Operations Manager plays a critical role in the success of our office, serving as a strategic partner to our office leader in all matters affecting leadership, team management, staffing, project delivery, growth, and other business decisions.
Responsibilities:- Partner with the office leader to assess business operations, leveraging a deep understanding of office financials, project portfolio, and practice fundamentals.
- Collaborate with the office leader to develop an organizational chart and define future position movements, hiring needs, or staffing adjustments based on office financials, skill sets, and project types.
- Work with the office leader to vet candidates, conduct interviews, and make hiring decisions.
- Contribute to the creation of the weekly forecast update and action plan with the regional leader and regional business manager.
- Review all proposals and pursuits with the office leader, maintaining the opportunity forecast to monitor incoming work and ensuring project fees are competitive and scopes are achievable.
- Work with the regional business operations manager to reassign staff to other offices and assist the office leader with staffing adjustments to achieve a balanced forecast.
- Review and approve construction documents in the office.
- Compare billing drafts completed by project managers against forecasts before submitting to accounting.
- Ensure work plans in Project Planner are developed by project managers and studio leaders while generating proposals, and monitor Project Planners to maintain a minimum 15% profit margin.
- Conduct weekly meetings with project managers to review Project Planner, forecast updates, QA/QC process, project awareness reports, accounts receivable progress, client or consultant issues, and resource team status.
- Develop and monitor a strategic business plan.
- Build strong relationships with corporate enterprise team leaders to discuss project performance and deliver the best service results.
- Ensure a high level of client service, resulting in repeat business, by implementing an effective QA/QC process for every project.
- Be a technical resource to staff.
- Be alert for HR issues and discuss with the office leader.
- Foster a strong team atmosphere with a positive attitude and good morale.
- Responsible for all training across the office, including technical, processes, software, financial management, and project management.
- Attend the annual Business Management Summit and disseminate information to office staff.
- Discuss liability concerns on projects with the office leader.Qualifications:
- Preferred equivalent of a bachelor's degree in architecture, interior design, or civil engineering.
- 8 years of practice experience and 2 years of project management experience leading successful project teams, inclusive of resource teams or equivalent business operations experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
