Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cable Television Installation Specialist to join our team at Doorstep Canada Ltd. As a key member of our installation team, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining aerial and underground telephone equipment, testing equipment to locate transmission faults, and ensuring the smooth operation of our telecommunications network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain aerial and underground telephone equipment
  • Test equipment to locate transmission faults
  • Install trunking systems, circuits, and equipment
  • Instruct apprentices
  • Complete and maintain test and service reports
  • Determine nature, cause, and location of trouble
  • Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders, or other support structures
  • Connect, disconnect, and relocate cable outlets
  • Determine work assignments
  • Install cable modems and software to enable Internet access
  • Maintain and repair aerial and underground transmission systems
  • Repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers, and amplifiers
  • Splice, join, and connect wires
  • Repair or replace defective telephone equipment
Work Environment

As a Cable Television Installation Specialist, you will work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, requiring attention to detail and the ability to distinguish between colours. You will also be required to handle heavy loads and work in physically demanding conditions.

Requirements
  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience, or equivalent experience
