Job Title: Cable Television Installation Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Cable Television Installation Specialist to join our team at Doorstep Canada Ltd. As a Cable Television Installation Specialist, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining aerial and underground telephone equipment, testing equipment to locate transmission faults, and instructing apprentices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain aerial and underground telephone equipment
  • Test equipment to locate transmission faults
  • Instruct apprentices
  • Complete and maintain test and service reports
  • Determine nature, cause and location of trouble
  • Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders or other support structures
  • Connect, disconnect and relocate cable outlets
  • Determine work assignments
  • Install cable modems and software to enable Internet access
  • Maintain and repair aerial and underground transmission systems
  • Repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers and amplifiers
  • Splice, join and connect wires
  • Repair or replace defective telephone equipment

Work Environment: This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, handling heavy loads, and physically demanding tasks. You must be able to distinguish between colors and have efficient interpersonal skills.

Requirements: To be successful in this role, you must have a college, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years, or equivalent experience. You must also be able to participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees, youth employment, or Veterans.
