About the Role

We're looking for a skilled professional to join our Insurance Defence Litigation team as a Insurance Defence Litigation Professional. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality support to our lawyers and clients in the defence of insurance claims.

  • Practice management, including organizing and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Drafting and preparing pleadings, application materials, and other legal documents.
  • Coordinating with counsel to request undertakings, reviewing answers received, and drafting motion materials to compel answers.
  • Arranging independent examinations, including retaining experts and preparing briefs.
  • Reviewing productions and providing counsel with pre-discovery lists of further productions/documents/information to request.
  • Summarizing document productions and other materials, including medical records.
  • Managing production requests and preparing affidavits of records.
  • Drafting letters of instruction and preparing expert retainer materials.
  • Supporting trial and arbitration preparation.

What You Bring

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A college diploma and/or university degree in a legal program (Paralegal, Law Clerk, Legal Office Administration), or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • A minimum of three to four years of experience in Insurance Defence Litigation, specifically as a Law Clerk.
  • An excellent understanding of tort matters.
  • Strong document management skills with the ability to learn and utilize various software programs, including iManage, Citrix, ACL, Nuance, and the Microsoft Office package.
  • Excellent communication, listening, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
