Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Space Planner to join our Campus Planning & Real Estate team at the University of Saskatchewan. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in coordinating tactical and strategic initiatives related to space management, ensuring that our institutional space framework is aligned with our teaching and research mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the implementation of space strategies that support important institutional initiatives;
  • Prepare space optimization analysis to identify space program options that align with USask priorities and space standards;
  • Provide space data and materials to inform the design development of major capital and renewal projects;
  • Validate space programming requirements for projects to ensure consistency with institutional goals;
  • Prepare analysis and recommendations that align with the institutional space management framework, standards, and principles;
  • Conduct space optimization analysis to ensure space needs align with Council of Ontario University standards and best practices;
  • Monitor and track efficiency, effectiveness, and equity of space utilization by all types of uses and users;
  • Track and coordinate implementation of space management tools and processes to efficiently process and resolve space requests;
  • Participate in preparing data and presentation materials for change management initiatives involving the strategic use of collaborative spaces;
  • Use analysis and models to demonstrate the physical and financial viability and sustainability of various space strategies;
Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with a university degree or diploma in interior design, planning, business, or architecture, and completion of or working towards a professional designation in interior design, real estate, facilities management, planning, or equivalent. The ideal candidate will have three to five years of directly related experience within a post-secondary or large complex corporate or institutional setting.

The successful candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy in applying standards and procedures. They will also have proficiency in computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office, and familiarity with design software (AutoCAD). A proven ability to prepare clearly written documents, presentations, and reports, and to compile and track space data in a complex academic and research environment is essential.
