Department Manager

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Department Manager to join our team at Atlantic Superstore. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for leading and managing the grocery department, ensuring excellent customer service, and driving sales growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and supervise all replenishment staff to maintain efficient in-stock positions and provide courteous customer service.
- Ensure productivity within the grocery department is optimized, meeting sales goals and budgets.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries, requests, and complaints, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Maximize sales and gross profit by implementing effective sales strategies and managing inventory levels.
- Hire and train part-time staff, ensuring they are equipped to provide excellent customer service.
- Support and schedule colleagues, ensuring compliance with scheduling practices and wage control.
- Interpret and administer company policies, ensuring compliance with employee guidelines.
- Maintain the condition of service counters, production areas, and offices, adhering to 5's standards.
- Ensure the safety and sanitation of the sales floor, back shop, coolers, and freezers.
- Build and lead diverse teams that foster a workplace of inclusiveness and belonging.
Requirements:
- Flexibility to work a variety of hours, including days, evenings, night shifts, and weekends.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Accept responsibility for department metrics, leadership, and colleague engagement.
- Three to five years' experience in the retail service industry is considered beneficial.
- Prior management experience is considered an asset.
- Grade 12 Diploma (GED or equivalent) is required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
