Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality consultation to management on strategies and approaches to manage complex employee issues.
  • Conduct employee investigations and professionally document findings and recommendations.
  • Oversee performance management activity, including performance issues, progressive discipline, and corrective action.
  • Support HR initiatives, such as the annual performance review process and employee engagement events.
  • Manage employee leave of absences, return to work plans, and accommodation requests.
  • Actively support HR projects and continuous improvement of HR practices.
  • Coordinate with management on Health & Safety matters.
  • Assist employees and management with policy interpretation and respond to inquiries and concerns.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to management to enhance their people management capability.
  • Maintain current knowledge of provincial employment laws and ensure compliance.
Requirements:
  • University/college degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years' Employee Relations or HR Generalist experience.
  • Strong knowledge of provincial Employment Standards legislation, Human Rights, Health and Safety legislation, and other applicable employment law.
  • Broad experience in policy and legislation interpretation, customer service, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Discretion, confidentiality, sound judgment, and sensitivity in dealing with employee situations.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in dealing with various levels of stakeholders across the company.
  • Advanced computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
