Content Expert/Curriculum Developer for Human Service Practice

Thompson Rivers University, Open Learning (TRU-OL) is seeking a qualified Content Expert/Curriculum Developer to complete a major revision of HUMS 1581: Introduction to Professional Human Service Practice.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in brainstorming and planning sessions to develop a detailed course planning document for the course, including relevant learning outcomes, learning activities, and assessments.
- Revise and/or develop content, including learning activities and authentic assessments, to ensure they are relevant and appropriate for an online continuous entry course.
- Create multimedia or other active learning activities to ensure student engagement through experiential learning.
- Choose effective and appropriate resources, ideally digital, and prioritize low-cost and accessible options.
- Accurately cite sources and identify third-party material that may require copyright clearance.
- Follow the guidance of the Instructional Designer on the inclusion of any AI-generated content.
- An earned doctorate in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or an EdD with a Master's degree in either Social Work or Child and Youth Care.
- A minimum of five years of full-time practice experience as a social worker or child and youth care worker.
- Demonstration of current and ongoing engagement in the course subject matter through practice, research, and/or the scholarship of teaching.
- Proven course development skills in a face-to-face or distance environment.
- A minimum of two years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level, preferably with entry-level students.
- Demonstrated experience in integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods.
- Proven skills in building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect.
- Teaching excellence, including developing culturally appropriate curricula.
- Demonstrated ability to write in a clear and consistent style, with grammatical accuracy.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative and consultative manner.
- Experience or training in facilitating online instruction is an asset.
