Job Description

This role involves handling automobile and property bodily injury claims of varying complexity. The successful candidate will possess a dynamic personality and excel in a high-performance environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full handling of direct deal and litigated files
  • Investigation, evaluation, and negotiation of automobile and property tort loss of moderate complexity
  • Effective management of challenging coverage claims with tact and professionalism
  • Arranging and managing vendors for investigation (IA's, surveillance, defence legal, defence medicals)
  • Accurate assessment and reservation of the claim in line with Corporate protocols and guidelines
  • Maintenance of control over expenses through proactive handling techniques
  • Management of claims in litigation, participation in mediations, pre-trials, and trials
  • Obtaining approval from Manager on claims above authority

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience handling Casualty claims required
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skillset
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to identify and analyze coverage issues
  • Expertise in file preparation and ability to negotiate a file to resolution
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of claims settlement, policy wording, fraud investigations
  • Ability to cross-reference information with attention to detail
  • CIP or working towards designation is an asset
  • Ability to understand insurance contracts in various jurisdictions is an asset
  • Knowledge of handling claims across Canada, as well as US exposures is an asset
