BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre is seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapy Educator to join our team in the NICU/PICU department. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a vital role in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational and clinical programs to meet the learning needs of respiratory therapy staff.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement educational programs, including orientation, clinical teaching, and inservice, in collaboration with the Professional Practice Leader and Professional Practice Coordinator.
- Participate in the performance and skill assessment of staff from an education perspective, developing skill assessment programs and certifying staff in specialized skills.
- Act as a clinical role model and resource for staff and division in the area of expertise, participating in educational and clinical audits, and Quality Improvement projects.
- Provide education to learners, respiratory therapists, medical staff, nursing, and other health professionals on respiratory therapy-related clinical practice, equipment, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in the development, communication, and evaluation of standards, procedures, and protocols, as well as selected Respiratory research activities.
- Conduct education, workshop, and conference sessions, presenting ideas at rounds, workshops, and conferences.
- Communicate and consult with other educators, acting as a clinical resource to community hospitals and agencies.
- Collaborate with other disciplines in providing institute-wide education programs, participating in developing an annual education plan, and clinical committees and councils.
- Graduate of an approved school of Respiratory Therapy.
- Three (3) years recent related experience in a Pediatric/Neonatal tertiary care facility, including leadership activities, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Successful completion of Canadian Board of Respiratory Care Examinations.
- Eligible for registration (RRT) with the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT).
- Eligible for registration with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT).
- Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for patient population.
