Job Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers is seeking a highly skilled Senior Bridge Engineer to lead our permanent design team. As a key member of our design-build team, you will be responsible for managing and performing engineering design tasks, coordinating with CADD and construction estimating teams, and ensuring the design work meets the quality, budget, and schedule expected on the project.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the structural engineering scope of work for permanent works design, including managing and performing engineering design tasks, coordinating with CADD and construction estimating teams, and ensuring the design work meets the quality, budget, and schedule expected on the project.
  • Leadership and mentorship of other staff, including identifying technical risks and implementing engineering principles to develop solutions.
  • Understand technical requirements of projects, identify technical risks, and implement engineering principles to develop solutions.
  • Participate in technical meetings and discussions, strategize solutions to complex or unique technical problems, and identify technical differentiators and develop schemes for key project pursuits.
  • Assistance in recruitment and development of staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or greater in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering (Masters Preferred)
  • 10+ years' experience in relevant structural/bridge engineering design
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in at least one province/state, with the ability to obtain registration in the Province of British Columbia
  • Strong all-around theoretical knowledge of structural engineering principles, including experience with the design of multiple bridge types in concrete and steel, wall systems, and other local structures
  • Experience with Design-Build or other alternative delivery methods, preferred
  • Experience with seismic design and analysis, preferred
  • Preferred experience with structural modelling software, i.e. programs such as MIDAS or LUSAS, and knowledge of drawing software such as AutoCAD or Microstation, and knowledge of programming languages such as VBA or Python
  • Detailed knowledge of CSA S6, and experience with other codes, such as CSA S16, AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI, and other North American design codes, preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and strong people skills and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Ability to travel as business requires
