Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Lead Field Review Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for managing a team of engineers to conduct field reviews, evaluate compliance with design documentation and construction quality procedures, and ensure that our bridge projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of engineers to conduct field reviews and evaluate compliance with design documentation and construction quality procedures.
  • Perform field reviews and visits at construction sites to ensure that our bridge projects are being constructed in accordance with our design specifications and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with designers to provide engineering support during construction, including the implementation and inspection of the work, including QA/QC documentation.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of field reviews and observations, including any issues or concerns identified during the review process.
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, architects, and other construction specialists to ensure that our bridge projects are being constructed in accordance with our design specifications and quality standards.
  • Bring site and design issues to the attention of the design team, and work with them to resolve any issues or concerns.
  • Monitor compliance of construction activities with design documentation, and ensure that our bridge projects are being constructed in accordance with our quality standards.
  • Coordinate and perform reviews of construction quality records, shop drawings, and other construction documents to ensure that our bridge projects are being constructed in accordance with our design specifications and quality standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant field experience in infrastructure construction projects, particularly in bridge design and construction.
  • Registered or eligible to register with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
  • Technical competencies:
    • Site experience on infrastructure construction projects, particularly performing field reviews.
    • Knowledge of bridge design principles and practices.
    • Experience with precast/prestressed concrete, elevated guideway, and/or transit projects is an asset.
    • Familiarity with relevant codes, including CSA S6, CSA A23.1, A23.2, A23.3, and A23.4.
    • Knowledge of health, safety, and security best practices, to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Experience in site inspection/observation.
    • Experience in the railway industry is an asset.
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Experience working on collaborative and/or Design-Build projects.
  • Personal and soft skills:
    • Effective communication, coordination, and teamworking skills.
    • Outstanding attention to detail and analytical ability.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks, within tight deadlines and schedules.
    • Willingness and availability to travel as needed.
    • Must have a valid driver's license.

Reports to: Management Team

Remuneration: The expected salary range for this position is $105,000-$125,000 per year. The exact salary will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, qualifications, certifications, competencies, and other relevant criteria.
