Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Transmission and Distribution Surveyor 2 to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing field surveys to ensure the accurate construction of gas mains and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field surveys using instruments such as transits, levels, and M scopes to produce accurate data for construction projects.
  • Check the accuracy of survey information against legal survey plans and municipal records.
  • Calculate and note distances and bearings to establish accurate running line references.
  • Apply survey instruments on site to locate underground gas pipelines and other utilities.
  • Make field notes and sketches of survey results, including topographic maps and profiles.
  • Provide technical advice to construction crews and assist with making changes to project plans.
  • Review and revise GCO staking copies to ensure accuracy.
  • Check relativities between project plans and "as built" records.
Requirements
  • BCIT Engineering Technician Certificate in Surveying Technology or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 8 months experience as a Transmission & Distribution Surveyor 1 or equivalent.
