About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Surveyor to join our team at FortisBC. As a Surveyor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient construction of our gas mains and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform field surveys using a range of instruments, including transits, levels, and scopes, to produce accurate data for construction projects.
  • Check the accuracy of survey information against legal survey plans and municipal records.
  • Calculate and note distances and bearings to establish accurate running line references.
  • Apply survey instruments on site to locate underground gas pipelines and other utilities.
  • Make field notes and sketches of survey results, including topographic maps and profiles.
  • Provide technical advice to construction crews and assist with making changes to project plans.
  • Position traffic warning signs and markers to ensure public safety.
  • Initiate field assignment meetings with planners and work leaders to discuss project assignments and challenges.
Requirements
  • BCIT Engineering Technician Certificate in Surveying Technology or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 8 months experience as a Transmission & Distribution Surveyor 1 or equivalent.
